Bob Basset

AR3S, 2022. Leather and wood.

Serhii Pertrov, known professionally as Bob Basset, is a Ukrainian artist and co-founder of Bob Basset Studio. Born in Kharkiv in 1976, Basset started the studio at just 13 years old in 1989 with his brother Oleg. The studio creates wearable art pieces like masks, bags and bracelets in the style of techno-romanticism. Since the war, Basset was forced to relocate from Kharkiv to Lviv, where he has started incorporating used bullet cartridges into his masks.

Basset’s practice makes use of a wide range of materials, primarily focusing on leather, metal, stone, wood and bone.

Basset’s work has been exhibited all over the world, and praised by the likes of David Lynch and steampunk founder William Gibson. In 2016, Vogue International included Basset on its list of 9 Revolutionary Ukrainian Designers. Basset has designed masks for Riccardo Tisci and Givenchy, bands like Slipknot, Korn, and Metallica, and his work has appeared in Vogue, The New York Times Fashion Magazine, Vice UK, and Flaunt.
